A cold, but still morning on the Upper Welsh Dee had the John’s and Myself feeling confident about our day ahead. Jon D was getting to grips with the leader to hand technique for the first time while John A was off down the bank putting into practice what he’d learnt on previous days out with us. It was a little longer than expected before the first Fish came to the net and it was becoming apparent it could end up being just one of those days. The weather wasn’t helping and couldn’t make its mind up and strong winds were making things difficult. The John’s, not afraid of a little hard work, got stuck in. Changing between LTH and New Zealand Styles to grind out a good result up to Lunch. Conditions weren’t improving and had I not known any better I would have agreed that a switch to Dry Fly might not have been the best idea, however after gentle persuasion the change was made. Soon there were big smiles as some fantastic Grayling began rising, unfortunately this didn’t last too long but the John’s just switched methods, covered more water and kept on Grafting.
Well done Lads you earned every Fish.
