Whilst it is permitted to fish for Trout on most still waters all through the year, the season for targeting Wild Trout in rivers finishes around the beginning of October depending on the regions bylaws. From October though until March, most river fly fishers will turn their attention to the Grayling. Both fish are very special for different reasons and I miss them equally when they are out of season. With that thought in mind and with the end of the Trout season looming, I set out to catch a few before I am forced to focus on just one river species over the winter months.
