Today Steve and I headed up to the River Dee in Corwen to explore some of the excellent waters managed by CADAC. The river is as low as I have seen it and it was crystal clear which made it even more of a challenge.

In these conditions, we concluded that a more stealthy approach would be required and we opted for a French leader set up with 2 nymphs, and a Klink & Dink rig with an extra long leader. Both proved successful but the French leader spooked less fish. We managed lots of Brown Trout and Grayling up to 12 inches but the highlight of the day was Steve’s Sea Trout. Having packed his ‘Special Sea Trout set up’ he ventured off up river to target the ‘Silver Bullets’.

Due to my poor network coverage and recent insurance claims, I’d left my mobile on the bank. A beaming Mr D arrived back down stream so we could fish the evening rise and proudly announced. ‘I’ve had one’!

Here it is!
